HITTING STANCE
Feature Screenplay | Crime Thriller
THE LOGLINE
A heated confrontation between two Little League fathers takes a dangerous turn when one discovers the man he challenged has ties to organized crime – transforming a petty clash of egos into a fight for survival where walking away may no longer be an option.
THE STORY
It starts with a disagreement.
A Little League field. Two fathers. Bruised egos. A few bad words exchanged in the heat of the moment.
Then everything changes.
Hitting Stance is a darkly charged crime thriller about how quickly an ordinary confrontation can become anything but ordinary.
What begins as a clash over the seemingly insignificant world of youth baseball sprials out of control when one of the men discovers that the person standing across from him operates by an entirely different set of rules.
Suddenly, pride has consequences.
What should have ended at the ballfield instead opens the door to a world of fear, intimidation, and violence – one where the rules are no longer clear and the consequences extend far beyond the men who started the fight.
As the situation escalates, the line between standing your ground and putting everything you love at risk begins to disappear.
Set against the deceptively innocent backdrop of youth baseball, Hitting Stance explores masculinity, pride, fear, and the dangerous decisions we make when our egos refuse to let us walk away.
Because sometimes the most dangerous fight is the one you never realized you’d started.
WHY THIS STORY SHOULD EXIST
I’m interested in the moment when ordinary life suddenly stops feeling ordinary.
Hitting Stance explores how quickly pride, anger, and a need to prove yourself can turn a seemingly insignificant confrontation into something much larger – and far more dangerous.
The Little League setting creates an intentionally familiar world: parents on the sidelines, kids on the field, and adults arguing over the smallest details of the game. Against that backdrop, the arrival of something much darker creates a collision between two very different worlds.
At its core, the story asks a simple question: What happens when you challenge someone without knowing who they really are?
