THE STORY
In a small town, everyone knows your name.
They just don’t always know the truth.
Yard Signs is a tense, darkly layered crime thriller about suspicion, ambition, and the dangerous alliances people make when they have everything to lose.
A man already living under the shadow of suspicion for his wife’s murder finds himself unexpectedly bound to a corrupt pastor whose political ambitions depend on maintaining the perfect public image.
Then a hunting trip goes disastrously wrong.
Forced into an uneasy partnership, the two men become trapped in a tightening web of serets, manipulation, and self-preservation. Every favor comes with a price. Every lie creates another. And beneath the polished surface of small-town respectability, something far more dangerous is taking shape.
As their secrets begin to collide, neither man can be certain whether the other is an ally, an accomplice, or the greatest threat to his survival.
Against a backdrop of small-town politics, public image, and private guilt, Yard Signs explores the uneasy space between innocence and culpability – and what happens when two morally compromised men realize they may need each other to survive.
WHY THIS STORY SHOULD EXIST
I’m drawn to stories where the line between right and wrong isn’t clearly drawn – and where characters are forced to make choices that reveal who they really are.
Yard Signs explores the intersection of ambition, guilt, reputation, and self-preservation. At its center are two men who have built very different versions of themselves, yet find themselves untied by the same fundamental problem: they both have something to hide.
The small-town setting creates a world where appearances matter, reputations carry weight, and everyone seems to be watching. Against that backdrop, the story examines how easily public virtue can conceal private corruption – and how quickly the need to protect an image can lead people somewhere they never intended to go.
Ultimately, Yard Signs is about the dangerous space between what we know, what we believe, and what we’re willing to do when the truth threatens to destroy everything.
